The netizens around the world might observe the internet connection failures. You might not be or you may face trouble while accessing your internet connection in the next 48 hours.

And the reason for the network failure is routine maintenance work over the next 48 hours by the ICANN (Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers). They will be changing the cryptographic key that helps protect the Domain Name System (DNS) or the Internet's address book. This change in cryptographic key is a necessity now because of rising incidents of cyber-attack, so to prevent such malicious attacks ICANN take steps in this direction.

The shutdown does not mean that the whole internet connection will be ceased; netizens may face difficulties in accessing web pages or doing any transactions or users could face inconvenience accessing the global network if they use an outdated ISP in the next 48 hours.

According to ICANN initial tests, around 1% of the total Internet population around the world is expected to be affected by the global shutdown. If we calculate 1% in numbers, this comes up to be more than 36 million people around the world.
